OTC Elite sends three athletes to USATF Indoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Track Club Elite will be represented by three athletes at the 2019 USATF Indoor Championships this weekend. The three-day meet begins Friday (Feb. 22) and runs through Sunday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility in Staten Island, N.Y.

OTC Elite’s Hanna Green is entered in the 1,000 meters, while teammates Harun Abda and Drew Piazza are scheduled to compete in the 600m and 1,000m, respectively. The meet will be televised on NBCSN (all times Pacific) from 3:30-5 p.m. on Saturday and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday.

All three OTC Elite athletes open competition on Saturday:

  • Green, 1,000m, 2:46 p.m.

  • Piazza, 1,000m, 3:07 p.m.

  • Abda, 600m, 3:53 p.m.

Sunday’s finals in those events:

  • Men’s 600m, 1:42 p.m.

  • Women’s 1,000m, 1:51 p.m.

  • Men’s 1,000m, 2:01 p.m.

Green tuned up for the USATF Indoor Championships with a victory in the 800m at the UW Last Chance meet in Seattle last Saturday (Feb. 16). She clocked a season-best time of 2:02.80.

At the same meet, Abda won the 600m in 1:18.62 and took second in the 800m at 1:49.72. Piazza was third in the 800m at 1:50.09 before pacing the men’s Invitational mile.
